A Thoughtfully Designed Summer Literacy Intensive
Bridge Literacy New Mexico is a five-week specialist-led summer literacy intensive for rising 1st–6th grade students who need targeted instruction in reading and spelling, including students with dyslexia. Every Bridge Literacy group is taught by a credentialed literacy and dyslexia specialist, with thoughtful student placement and focused instruction designed to strengthen essential skills and build momentum between school years.
Bridge Literacy 2027 Program Details
Bridge Literacy 2027 is a five-week, specialist-led summer literacy intensive for rising 1st–6th grade students. Hosted on the campuses of community partners Bosque School and Manzano Day School, Bridge brings highly specialized literacy instruction into a summer setting designed to be focused, engaging, and manageable for students and families.
- Five weeks of daily, targeted instruction. Students participate in a 60- to 75-minute small-group literacy session each day, led by a credentialed literacy and dyslexia specialist and focused on the foundational reading and spelling skills students need to strengthen.
- Small groups, thoughtfully formed. A brief literacy screening and review of each student’s current skills help us create groups with compatible instructional needs, allowing specialists to teach with greater precision and respond to the students in front of them.
- A summer experience that can flex with your family. Students may enroll in Bridge Literacy on its own or combine their daily Bridge group with summer programming offered through the host school, pairing specialized literacy instruction with arts, sports, enrichment, and other interest-based activities.
With two respected Albuquerque community partners and instruction delivered by specialists with deep expertise in dyslexia, Bridge offers families something distinctive: highly targeted summer literacy instruction that can stand on its own or fit naturally into a summer that still feels like summer.

The Vision Behind Bridge Literacy
Bridge Literacy NM was co-founded in 2022 by Erin Brown and Dr. Nicole Florez, two longtime New Mexico literacy and dyslexia specialists whose work spans direct intervention with students, professional training, and the preparation of other dyslexia specialists.
Through years of working with students, families, educators, and schools across New Mexico, they saw a need for something different during the summer: focused literacy instruction that brings the same depth of expertise students receive in specialized intervention into an intentionally small-group setting.
For students with dyslexia and other persistent reading challenges, effective instruction requires more than additional reading practice. It requires a deep understanding of how reading and spelling develop, why those skills can break down, and how instruction should respond when a student is not progressing as expected.
Bridge Literacy was created around that expertise. What began as a small Albuquerque summer program has grown through partnerships with Bosque School and Manzano Day School, expanding access while preserving the specialist-led, thoughtfully designed instruction at the heart of Bridge.
